AMD (advanced micro devices) will be releasing their new ATI Radeon HD 4850 X2 and the 4870 X2 graphics cars. They stated this week that the ATI Radeon HD 4850 X2 graphics card will be available in September for only $399. The 4870 X2 has already shipped out and will be available for $599.

Dell produced their top of the line studio laptops only a few short weeks ago. When this happened we knew to expect the Studio Hybrid to emerge not long afterwards and we were not disappointed. Dell has released details concerning the new ‘eco-friendly’ desktop.
Dell has equipped the new computer with Core 2 Duo option - which will still allow it to keep the power draw below 65W. We are assuming that the system will use Intel’s Centrino 2 notebook platform.

Gateway stated this week that they will cease selling PC’s on its web site. Instead they will be putting all of their attention on selling them through their third party stores and other online retailers that they are affiliated with.
They have been selling their PC computers through partner retail stores since 2004 - but have had to stop this in order to cut down on costs and to align its business model with their parent company Acer.

Apple has filed a suit against Psystar Corporation for alleged copyright infringement, trademark and trade infringement, breach of contract, and unfair competition.. In order to take action against the company they are recalling every single one of the Mac clones that have already been sold by Psystar.
Psystar began selling the Open Computer in April. The Open Computer used a modified version of Apple’s OS X, according to Apple’s suit, and provided unauthorized patches that Apple claimed were simply copied from its own Web site. A similar Openserv server sold by Psystar allegedly used the Mac OS X Server edition.

Scientists at the Los Alamos government weapons lab have managed to build the world’s fastest computer. The computer has the ability to sustain 1,000 trillion operations in a single second.
IBM’s Energy Department announced their new breakthrough Monday and stated that the computer will be used to help maintain the country’s nuclear weapons stockpile.
Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman says the new computer, named Roadrunner, also will be used to help solve global energy problems and “open new windows of knowledge” in basic research.

IBM scientists believe that stacked processors have a much higher power density than most nuclear reactors. The amount of heat that processors with processing circuits, cores, and other components are extremely high. One of the large challenges that they have had is trying to cool it off.

Apple has something special planned for this year’s WWDC and it will come in the form of the brand new Mac OS X 10.6. If things stay on schedule the new computer will be shipping out January of 2009.
The WWDC – Apple Worldwide Developers Conference – will be held June 9-13 in San Francisco. There Apple will be revealing some pertinent and rather exciting (according to rumors) news about the new Mac OS X Leopard.

This week Apple spent most of their time fixing the security breaches and vulnerabilities that were found in many of the components and application that were bundled with the Mac OS X. Yesterday they were able to patch 40 of these security problems which were found in 25 of the applications. These applications included iCal, Flash Player, and Apache.

Microsoft told the public that they heard their anger concerning all of the problems that they have experienced with Windows Vista and have sworn that they are rectifying the situation with their new MinWin – Microsoft 7. It is the next version of Windows and according Microsoft is will be better than Vista.
